摘要
The fatigue property of Ti34wt.%Al and Ti36wt.%Al alloys was studied in vacuum at 1073K. The crack growth was observed and photographed under high resolution conditions using elevated-temperature loading cyclic stage for the scanning electron microscope. The results revealed influences of microstructure on the fatigue mechanisms and the fatigue strength in these alloys. The fatigue property of Ti34wt.%Al was controlled by the fatigue crack initiation mechanism. The fatigue lives of Ti34wt.%Al can be predicted treating fatigue crack initiation as the predominant fatigue mechanism. In contrast, many microcracks growth stage was the dominant life of Ti36wt.%Al. A many microcracks growth analysis can then be performed to asses the remaining life.
