Profits and wages in the US economy

This article analyses the relation between the main components of the national income (profits and wages) and the dynamic growth of the US economy during the period of 1980-1996. In the first place, it is explained the profits evolution and its distribution among the taxes, dividends and the enterprises saving. After it is examined the evolution of the profit rate and the factors which permit to understand its behav-iour. In the third place, it deels with the evolution of the payments to the employees: total compensation, earning-hour and labour unitary costs.
