摘要
This essay looks into the potential impact of covid-19 in Latin America on the economic, social, political and geopolitical dimensions. Firstly, it characterises the pre-pandemic regional situation, which allows for the identification of growing difficulties at the nation-states level as well as the tendency towards the weakening of regionalisms, in a context of a globalization crisis. Secondly, it develops a preliminary analysis of the covid-19 impact by showing how it deepens challenges in terms of growth, poverty, inequality and political instability (although mediated by nation-state variables), at the same time that it contributes to the deepening of regionalisms' weaknesses.
