SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITIES OF SOME NOVEL HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS

摘要
As part of ongoing studies in developing new antimicrobials, as a class of structurally novel 4-alkyl-3-phenyl amino benzoyl isocoumarin derivative, in cooperating bioactive nuclei such as aniline derivatives, amino acids, coumarin, acridon were synthesized using easily available starting material. These compounds were screened for their antibacterial activity against S. aureus as Gram positive & E. coli as Gram negative bacteria and antifungal activity against pestalotiopsis fungus. Most of the isocoumarin derivatives were active against Gram positive bacteria and significant reports were found with antifungal activity. Best result was found where both coumarin and isocoumarin moieties were present.
