摘要
The educational EU-plans (EEES) have promoted the creation of varied educational resources and the presence of TIC's have provided to teachers a lot of free resources by internet and the opportunity to integrate and share their own resources. Traditionally, mathematics is especially difficult for Geology students. We find a large number of students with a low level in mathematics and with reading and understanding difficulties in mathematical language and problems to translate a geophysical problem into a mathematical one. Therefore, these students have a lack of enough background of mathematics. Our objective is to facilitate the monitoring of math classes, to increase the knowledge in mathematics and to improve their motivation. Our action plan is based on the concept of flipping the classroom. This concept means that students gain first exposure to new themes or paragraphs of a theme outside the class and then use class time to do the assimilating of knowledge by problem-solving, case studies and discussion. We have decide that lecture videos in mathematics are a good option to present our themes because the students are increasingly visual and less readers. A video can better capture their interest. We have made video on several subjects: videos to expand an already given class (therefore, the students could review the class as often as they want), videos about exercises or videos to expand and develop the theory. This development of the mathematical video and documents was made by 66 students starting their studies in Geological Sciences degree in the Complutense University of Madrid.
