Knowledge Sharing Behaviour of Students in Institutions of Higher Learning in Singapore

This is an ongoing research that investigates knowledge sharing behaviours of students in Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) in Singapore and Malaysia. This paper presents the findings of the first phase of the research where only responses from Singapore IHL are presented. The students (respondents) came from IHL in Singapore; both private and public institutions. This includes Junior College, Polytechnics, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), University of Newcastle Australia (Singapore Campus) and Singapore Management University (SMU). A survey questionnaire was designed and circulated among the respondents via purposive sampling. Three hundred responses were gathered and upon checking and filtration 217 samples finalized for data analysis. Preliminary findings show that Singaporean HIL students are generally sociable and open for knowledge sharing among peers. They show high level of trust when it comes to receiving information from their peers. Results reveal various other peculiar characteristics of students in Singapore and their knowledge sharing behaviour.
