摘要
Economic growth of the Slovak Republic requires today more than ever the promotion of innovation and the implementation of proper tools to that end. Support should target the areas of education, Professional training and the employment policy. On the other hand, it is necessary to support businesses in their independent innovation activities and to establish links between businesses and sciences sectors. The strategic objective of making innovation one of the main instruments in developing the knowledge economy, ensuring high economic growth of the Slovak Republic and catching up with the most advanced EU countries, is included into the Innovation Policy of the Slovak Republic for 2012-2013. The aim of the article is to present innovations in strategic documents of competitiveness of the Slovak Republic. The stress will be given to the main priorities to support innovation activities in small and medium enterprises sector. The paper is elaborated as a part of VEGA project 1/0654/11, "Innovative small and medium enterprises as a part of knowledge based economy in the Slovak Republic".
