Evaluation of some devices for manipulation in immersive three-dimensional space

摘要
To realize an immersive VR system with good usability, we have developed a new device for pointing operations. This work is a report on a comparative study on the usability of some devices employed for pointing operations in an immersive VR system. We implemented usability assessment methods such as performance measurement, thinking aloud, and a questionnaire. In addition we created some immersive VR spaces to evaluate the usability of each device. Some experiments in immersive VR spaces were conducted to evaluate usability attributes quantitatively and qualitatively, and the experimental results show the advantage of our new device in pointing operations.
