摘要
Epoxy is one of the most widely used polymers. The aim of this research is to determine the potential of activated carbon derived from coconut shells as fillers in epoxy resin. 5 wt% of this filler was added to epoxy resin. The entire specimens were manufactured using a mold made out of aluminum strips with dumbbell shape according to ASTM D638 standard. Tensile properties of epoxy resin with and without filler were analyzed to observe the effect of activated carbon. The results showed that the addition of 5 wt% of activated carbon can decrease the tensile strength of epoxy resin, meanwhile increasing its elas-tic modulus.Copyright (c) 2022 Elsevier Ltd.
