By the interaction of aqueous solutions of salts of the [Re6Se8(CN)(6)](4) cluster anion with salts of Nd(III), Tb(III), and Yb(III) lanthanides in the presence of tetraatomic alcohol erythritol (butane-1,2R,3S,4-tetraol) three new compounds are obtained: K[Nd(C4H10O4)(H2O)(4){Re6Se8(CN)(6)}]center dot 4H(2)O (P (1) over bar space group, a = 11.544 angstrom, b = 13.643 angstrom, c = 13.838 angstrom, alpha = 111.97 degrees, beta = 108.08 degrees, gamma = 90.08 degrees) (1); [{Yb-2(C4H9O4)(2)x (H2O)(2)}{Re6Se8(CN)(6)}]center dot 5H(2)O (P (1) over bar space group, a = 10.308 angstrom, b = 10.505 angstrom, c = 11.154 angstrom, alpha = 88.21 degrees, beta = 81.83 degrees, gamma = 78.50 degrees) (2); [{Tb-2(C4H9O4)(2)(C4H10O4)}{Re6Se8(CN)(6)}]center dot 4H(2)O (P (1) over bar space group, a = 10.002 angstrom, b = 10.276 angstrom, c = 11.762 angstrom, alpha = 91.32 degrees, beta = 104.01 degrees, gamma = 106.02 degrees) (3). The structures of these compounds are the coordination polymers (chain (2) and grids (1 and 3)) with different coordination modes of erythritol to the lanthanide cations.
