摘要
Permanent magnet synchronous motors involving rotors that include both interior magnets and squirrel cages have gained great research and industrial interest in the last few years. They exhibit enough reliability to be used in many industrial applications. However, their design procedure presents increased complexity, while the complete finite element analysis for the estimation of starting and steady-state performance is quite time consuming. Thus, in this work, a preliminary motor design stage incorporating the classical design methodology is combined with a parameterization of the final design stage aiming to ease the overall process. Six different rotor configurations (i.e. different magnets arrangements and different number of magnet blocks per pole) have been examined following the proposed approach and they have been analyzed through 2D finite element method. Finally, the derived results of the obtained topologies are compared in terms of various performance indexes by considering both the motor's transient and steady-state operating characteristics.
