The non-degenerate solitons due to three-wave mixing in a quadratic medium are analyzed. A new stability criterion for these solitons is found and verified numerically. The influence of the non-paraxial terms on the instability threshold is also discussed. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
