摘要
The thermooxidative degradation of poly(vinyl chloride)/chlorimated polyethylene (PVC/CPE) blends of various compositions was investigated by means of thermal analysis methods: differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG). By using DSC it was found that all investigated PVC/CPE blends were heterogeneous. The main reaction of PVC degradation at moderate temperatures is dehydrochlorination, which is also a dominant reaction in CPE degradation. In spite of chemical similarity of the investigated polymers, thermooxidative stability and degradation mechanism are different. In order to evaluate the effect of CPE on the thermooxidative degradation of PVC in the blends, different criteria have been used. It was found that CPE had a stabilizing effect on thermooxidative degradation of PVC and interactions of blends components with their degradation products occurred. (C) 2003 Elsevier Ltd.
