摘要
The extent to which simple ideas such as two-point treatments can account for behaviour in high-recycling divertor plasmas is examined through comparisons with full 2-D modelling of an ITER-scale system using the ''B2'' fluid transport code. Friction and cooling factors quantify the departures between them. Attendant formulations for cross-field decay-lengths of major SOL plasma properties (density, temperatures, flux densities) are similarly tested, in particular regarding the direct relationships which are shown to be expected amongst them. This reveals a crucial process of internal organization of the SOL plasma. Tendencies to form two-layered profiles are also disclosed. Substantial correspondence suggests many aspects of divertor plasmas as revealed by 2-D fluid codes are indeed compatible with the insight provided by two-point and other basic models.
