摘要
This study provides a report of the medium and long term results (more than 12 months) obtained after performing a gastroduodenostomy using an Autosuture TM instrument on 21 dogs and 6 cats suffering from severe antropyloric parietal lesions (3 cases of ulcers of the antrum and 10 cases of tumours), from a gastric retention syndrome caused by pyloric obstruction (3 cases of AAHG and 1 case of a tumour) or from gastric hypomotility unresponsive to gastric prokinetic drugs (10 cases). In all cases except one (96%), postoperative recovery of the animals was highly satisfactory. No sign of retention was observed. In the course of our study, there was no occurrence of septic phenomena or peritoneal reaction. The results of the study show that in the event of recurrent gastric volvulus dilatation , serious gastric hypomotility unresponsive to prokinetic drugs and severe pyloric obstruction, the long term prognosis is excellent and the clinical or functional sequellae from surgery are of relatively minor importance. The quality of the results obtained in which there are no postoperative complications related to the technique employed is to be attributed to the use of an Autosuture instrument. This technique has proved to be palliative in cases of cancerous tumours of the stomach, providing the animal nonetheless with very noticeable comfort and enabling it to begin eating again quickly and contend with the possibility of chemotherapy.
