A combined SPALEED and helium-atom diffraction investigation of the structure of oxidized Cu(001)

摘要
The structure of the oxidized Cu(001) surface has been investigated at room temperature using spot profile analysis LEED (SPALEED) and helium-atom diffraction. In both measurements the observed 1/4-order diffraction spots of the (2 root 2 x root 2)R45 degrees structure show a splitting which is attributed to a large number of small. translationally displaced domains. Extensive Eikonal simulations of the helium atom results indicate that [3/2,1/2,0]a translational domain displacements are preferred. Evidence for areas with different lattice constants is also presented.
