摘要
The state of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon is presented. We focus in the social actors involved in the process that has lead to the destruction of the rainforest without bringing any or little social progress for the local inhabitants. We finally discuss some suggestions that, in our view, must be implemented as part of an integral reassessment regarding the potential solutions that should conciliate between social development and environmental conservation.
