摘要：

The initial value problems for second-order integro-differential equations in a real Banach space E are examined. By establishing a comparison result and using the monotone iterative technique, the existence of maximal and minimal solutions for such problems is obtained. To illustrate the results, two examples of both finite and infinite systems for scalar second-order integro-differential equations are given.
