摘要
The collective public passenger transport service accounts for most of the trips made in Brazilian cities, and is usually operated by private companies. The management bodies of these services find it difficult to regulate criteria and norms that allow a balance between the interests of the agents (managing body, operating companies and users), which implies, among other impacts, the loss of the quality of the service provided and a consequent process of migration of users from collective to individual transport. This dissertation consists of an applied research that aims to contribute to the search for improvements to this problem through a case study concerning the city of Foz do IguassuPR. This paper will present the results of the collective public transport evaluation associated with the development of the city. The evaluation method consisted in the application of research to public transport users, where the performance and importance of the main quality factors were evaluated. For the elaboration of the questionnaire, the standards established by the authors Ferraz and Torres (2004) in their work "Public Urban Transport" were considered. In a second moment, were interviewed employers and entrepreneurs of the city relative also to the public transport and the possible impact in his enterprise. Based on the results of both interviews, the main positive and negative aspects of collective public transportation in the city were identified. From these results, operational suggestions for improvement of the system are presented.
