摘要
Executive efficiency is a key word of project management (PM). This paper proposes a Component-based Project Management System, (CPMS) for companies, which aims to improve the executive efficiency for project stakeholders by transforming the knowledge inside and outside companies into technology with the aid of defining, standardizing, encapsulating and reusing project components. CPMS is a system from the viewpoint of company rather than from that of project managers. A project is a unique and temporary task. It is unique, but some or many of its components might be the same as or similar to those used in other projects in the company, it is temporary, so the project managers and project team members have no time to produce and accumulate project components for other projects to reuse. This paper discusses how to make project components and how to make they be reused by other projects through redesigning organizations in a company. CPMS is a system about project technology rather than about project knowledge. It is well known that PM is both science and art, while its technology perspective has been neglected. This paper discusses the importance of shifting from project knowledge management (KM) to project technology management (TM) in companies, and introduces the classifications, structures and attributes of project technology.
