摘要
The challenge of presenting information clearly becomes increasingly difficult as the complexity of a project increases. Traditional methods and tools like graphs and diagrams are fine for interpreting simple facts but not very good for illustrating some of the complexities of interaction between the human and the system. Three-dimensional (3D) modelling can significantly aid Ergonomists in communicating design constraints and help end users to understand and comment on complex design information. Currently there is wide agreement that creating a visual model is the best method for turning complex spatial design data into useful information. Visualisation of design data also encourages people from different disciplines to work together at an early stage when collaboration is so important on a project. Many visualisation features can be especially useful for the Ergonomist such as sightline analysis, reach envelopes, and other spatial aspect of a design. This paper will provide examples from railway projects where 3D models were utilized to deliver better ergonomic solutions, much earlier in the design process.
