One neutral metal-organic framework with an unusual dmp topology for adsorption of dyes

摘要
One new Co-based coordination polymer with a bidentate imidazole ligand, 4,4'-bisimidazolylbiphenyl (4,4'-bibp), and a 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate (1,4-bdc) co-ligand, [Co(bibp)(bdc)](n) (1) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. For complex 1, the mixed ligands linked the Co(II) ions to form a three dimensional 4-connected net with a rare dmp topology, in which a large cavity causes 3-fold inter-penetration of the network. Dye adsorption studies confirmed that 1 can selectively adsorb the organic dyes methyl orange, methyl blue, neutral red, Sudan I and methylene blue, but hardly adsorb Safranine T.
