Some achievements and difficulties in the development of marine technologies that deal with the utilization of marine natural products as drugs, biochemical preparations, preparations for agriculture, etc., are discussed in the course of this paper. Studies performed at the Pacific Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences are used as examples to highlight difficulties faced in this area.
