Accelerated aging study on oil-paper transformer insulation using relaxation studies

摘要
A relaxation study carried out on aged oil-filled transformer to understand the aging process of oil-paper insulation is described. A sample transformer was aged by accelerated thermal aging method. Characteristic changes were measured in the recovery voltage measurement (RVM) responses with the aging time. The dielectrometry measurement was done before and after the aging process and an extensive analysis was made to understand the relaxation process. The interpretation was carried out in the form of variations of the parameters of, Debye model of the insulation. The physics of relaxation process due to water migration from paper to oil was also discussed, with respect to the aging period and tested temperature.
