摘要
In Paraiba the process of desertification is considered serious both for completenessand the levels of degradation. The worst-affected areas are Serido, Cabaceiras and Sao Joao do Cariri, whichstand out with land that present high risks desertification. In this context, the objective of this work was to highlight the municipality of Juazeirinho-PB while its evolution in the process of desertification and yet demonstrate that palm cultivation (Opuntia Fincus Indicates. Mill) is a real alternative to combat desertification, due to his versatility while and cactacea play a large role of cultural change in the lives of people residing in semi-arid areas and has as main food of livestock in times of drought the Palm.
