摘要
This paper proposes a new scheme for randomized network coding based live media streaming in mesh cooperative peer-to-peer network. With network coding, each node of the mesh cooperative network is able to generate and transmit encoded blocks of media data. The encoding operations help user nodes to make better packet propagation decisions and can therefore make the streaming system to be more efficient. Moreover, the randomization introduced by network coding also allows us to introduce a push based transmission method and a Priority Encoding Transmission mechanism into the system to further enhance system performance. We have run a series of simulation experiments to compare streaming system using our scheme with traditional store-and-forward based streaming system with pull (or known as data driven) transmission method. Simulation results show that our design can significantly improve the streaming continuity and the robustness of live media system.
