316L stainless steel was electropolished in 3 electrolytes consisting of H2SO4, H3PO4 and org. additives (Et3N, OHCH2CH2OH, (COON)(2), PhNHAc, glycerol) at 55 degrees C and anodic current d. 20 A/dm(2). In the Et3N-contg. bath, the roughness Ra was 0.063-0.065 mu m and in the OHCH2CH2OH, (COOH)(2) and PhNHAc-contg. bath, 0.091-0.096 mu m. The bath consisting H3PO4 and glycerol (50% by vol.) was efficient only at above 90 degrees C (Ra 0.070 mu m).
