The Use of Krill Herd Based Optimization to Solve Complex Economic Load Dispatch Problems

摘要
This paper deals with a modern type of optimization process Krill Herd Algorithm (KHA) for solving the ELD or Economic Load Dispatch problem. As the name suggest here this technique is incorporated on the herding nature of the krill. Here we have developed a population based evolutionary algorithm KHA to implement and search for the optimum solution. The krill movement is based on the two functions, first each individual krill's minimum distance from food and how far it's position from the highest density herd. So, this two conditions are reckoned as the objective function here. Position of each krill with respect to a particular time is dependent on three basic conditions: a) the movement of nearby krills affecting movement of the referred one, b) foraging activity, c) random diffusion. Therefore, here in present manuscript Krill Herd Optimization (KH) is tested on IEEE standardized 15 generators system and 38 generators test systems for calculating the global best solution in the effective and efficient way. Later we have tallied the result with other well-known methods for solving ELD problems. Ultimately the result proves that KH algorithm gives better result with a quicker response.
