This letter describes some essential features of the publicly available mesoscale wind farm parameterization of Fitch et al. (2012) in the Weather Research and Forecasting model. It highlights the importance of using turbine manufacturer data with the parameterization and the spatial scales to which it is applicable. Copyright (C) 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
