摘要
The concern of how to stay on the free trade is expressed by striving towards the increasing of the competitiveness degree and it often provokes new efforts of the companies to increase the effectiveness of the development process. The philosophy of the concurrent engineering isn't new. The terms "system engineering" and "simultaneous engineering" have been used to describe similar approaches. With appearance of concurrent engineering and the life cycle engineering, during the last years, the whole philosophy in area of investigation and using of the systems has been exchanged. The integration concurrent design and other life cycle phases of the systems is the key to the concurrent engineering. The concurrent engineering, as a new approach, is characterized by the focus on the customer's requirements, that is, the customer is dictating to the manufacture, what he needs to produce. Several case studies, which show that the design and maintenance must go "arm in arm", are considered in the paper. The case studies consider the systems like: the fast trains, airplanes, nuclear power stations and cars.
