摘要
Since conventionally prescribed drugs lead the side-effects, complementary and alternative medicines are more effective for autoimmune diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and psoriasis. On the other hand, green synthesis using plant extracts results in nanoparticles of very small size in homogenous solution and they can be eliminated from the body. The extracts of leaf, seed, flower, and root can reduce the precursor salts and the bio-active components are adsorbed on the surface of nanoparticles. Plants having antidiabetic effects have been used to prepare nanoparticles; thus, obtained nano formulations are analyzed for their antidiabetic activities. In addition, various natural nanoparticles like curcumin and quercetin are used for the treatment of diabetes. Polymers, liposomes, and solid lipid nanoparticles encapsulated with phytochemicals having antidiabetic activity are also revealed. This review gleaned the potentials of plant-based biosynthesized nanoparticles to be antidiabetic agents.
