Influence of Electromagnetic Brake on Non-Metallic Inclusion in Slab

摘要
The distributions of non-metallic inclusion in slabs produced with and without Electromagnetic brake (EMBR) were analyzed. It's shown that, with the using of EMBR, the average diameter and area of the inclusions are less than those of the slab produced without EMBR. They are decrease 0.18 mu m and 6.42 mu m(2) 2 respectively. There are many inclusions in diameter bigger than 10 mu m in the slab border areas of A1, A5, B1 and B5, and the compositions of some of them are similar to those of the mold powder. When EBMR was used, these inclusions disappeared in these areas. Most of the inclusions in the slab with or without EMBR are Al2O3, MnS or CaS, and there are some compound inclusions such as Al2O3-MnS, Al2O3-SiO2, few of them are the inclusions bearing K or Na elements. The amounts of the inclusions bearing K or Na elements in the slab produced without EMBR are more than those slabs produced with EMBR obviously.
