Conservative treatment of ulcerative keratitis in horses -: Literature review and case report

Ulcerative keratitis is a common and potentially blinding ocular disease of horses, capable of progressing to corneal perforation in as little as 24 h. After describing the physiology of the cornea and the ulcer as a pathological process, the authors present the different types of infectious keratitis caused by bacteria and fungi. Having expounded the usage of the topically administrated antiproteinase agents, they acquaint with the intensive medical therapy protocol. The case reports were collected from the patient series of the Large Animal Clinic Ullo and University of Florida.
