摘要
An angle-resolved photoemission study of single-crystal CuO (100) has been undertaken using line 6.2 at the CLRC Daresbury Laboratory. Large single-crystal faces of(100) orientation are produced by anvil cleaving, and their orientation confirmed by LEED and Laue back-reflection. The dispersion of the valence band states projected onto the b*c* plane has been studied, and this is mapped onto the 3D band structure of the monoclinic material. Comparison is made with existing band structure calculations which use the full monoclinic symmetry of the tenorite structure. Resonant photoemission at the Cu 3p --> 3d threshold is compared with literature CI calculations for CuO.
