Shaking table tests on seismic behavior of sheet pile quay walls subjected to backfill liquefaction

摘要
Shaking table tests were conducted to study the effect of backfill liquefaction on the behavior of sheet pile quay walls. Test results suggested the importance of sufficient embedment of sheet piles on the mitigation of the lateral displacement of quay walls and the settlement of the backfill. Moreover, it was attempted to back-calculate by using the measured record the lateral earth pressure coefficient K, and K was found ti be 1.0 during liquefaction of backfill. From this knowledge, a simple prediction method of the lateral displacement of the sheet pile quay wall was proposed and verified.
