摘要
The diffuse X-ray emission in the Magellanic Clouds is studied using all pointed observations of the ROSAT PSPC. Contributions from the distinct sources listed in the ROSAT HRI and PSPC source catalogues were eliminated and periods of high solar activity were excluded. PSPC spectra were analyzed for 0.25degrees x 0.25degrees regions both in the SMC and the LMC yielding characteristic temperatures of 10(6) - 10(7) K for the diffuse emission in the MCs. The spatial variation is compared to the distribution of SNRs in the MCs. In. addition, new results from an XMM-Newton EPIC-PN observation of diffuse emission close to the 30 Doradus region are discussed.
