摘要：

The article reveals the peculiarities of modelling the region's economy within a country, describing at this the methods which have been adapted for Russian economy. Key approaches to forecasting the economy and the demand for various types of commodities are demonstrated, the choice of a certain principle for forecasting is grounded; special attention is paid to the fundamentals of working with a statistical database taking into account the available data and the methodology of obtaining this data.
