Exploring Public Awareness of Child Abuse in Greece

The current study explores the critical issue of public awareness of child abuse in Greek urban society where many social problems exist. It addresses to questions whether the public is aware by whom children are abused and what risk factors exist for their ill-treatment. A questionnaire was distributed to ninety nine married adults. The research finding indicated that the Greek public is aware of the child abuse problem but child care and protection is parental responsibility and they are not ready to accept any new reforms.
