All-optical gate based on surface-mediated effects in nematic liquid crystal cells

摘要
An all optical switch (optical limiter) was constructed and demonstrated using a twisted nematic liquid crystal cell composed of the liquid crystal 5CB(4-pentyl-4'-cyanobiphenyl) with polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) aligning layers. Milliwatt switching levels were observed. (c) 2005 Optical Society of America.
