Sugar industries of the Former Soviet Union (FSU) countries

摘要：
After a long period of contraction following the collapse of the Soviet Union(1), the sugar sector in the region has recently shown a strong recovery. Beet sugar production in the region grew from 3.8 million (min) tonnes, raw value in 2000 to about 6 min tonnes expected this season. The upward trend in sugar production in the region, however, is unlikely to hold in the next season or two due to the growing financial hardship facing sugar producers.
