摘要
'Fuentepina' is a short-day cultivar developed by the Spanish Public Breeding Program (Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Agrarias, Instituto de Investigacion y Formacion Agraria, Pesquera y de la Produccion Ecologica, Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Agrarias, Fresas Nuevos Materiales S. A., Nuevas Tecnicas en Fresa S. L., and Freshuelva Viveristas Agreement - CC05-024-C3-1) that began in 2001. The main purpose of this agreement was to develop and release cultivars with increased adaptability to the environmental conditions of the Huelva area. This new Spanish cultivar was selected from a 2002 cross between NA-676 (IFAPA genebank accession) and the breeding line SE-1-297 ('Oso Grande' x 'Carisma'), and was tested as selection 1823-1. The fruit of 'Fuentepina' is pleasantly aromatic and tasty. Post-harvest tests showed that 'Fuentepina' has a good shelf life, similar to that of the standard cultivars grown in south-western Spain, such as 'Camarosa' and 'Sabrosa'. It produces a high early and moderate total yields. 'Fuentepina' is remarkable for its low tendency to form misshapen fruits, and its low percentage of second-class fruits. Fruit production and quality, and shelf-life parameters (calyx freshness and bruising) and other important morph-agronomical traits are described in detail, compared with the most important cultivars in the area ('Camarosa', 'Sabrosa', 'Ventana' and others). The participants of the Spanish Breeding Program have jointly applied for a Community Plant Variety Right (CPVO, application number 2009/0750) in the European Union (EU) territory.
