In an experimental study on piglets we investigated the mechanic effect of 4 standardized antireflux operations on the lower esophageal sphincter. It could be demonstrated that different degrees of fundic wrap formation lead to a proportional mechanic effect at the LES according to the degree of this wrap. Choosing a distinct type of wrap formation will allow for a calculated calibration of the LES according to the individual degree of pre-existing sphincter defect.
