Potentiometric Study of Tungsten-Containing Chloride Melts

Electrode potentials of tungsten were measured in the melts based on NaCl-2CsCl and 3LiCl-2KCl eutectic mixtures at 723-1123 K. Formal standard electrode potentials of tungsten in NaCl-2CsCl eutectic at 823-1123 K and 3LiCl-2KCl eutectic at 723-1123 K were determined from the experimental data. Temperature dependencies of the formal standard electrode potentials of tungsten and Gibbs free energy change of formation of tungsten tetrachloride in NaCl-2CsCl and 3LiCl-2KCl melts were obtained.
