(Chemical Equation Presented) Light at the end of the tunnel. The reports on organocatalytic photoreactions that are also enantioselective are few and far between. Recently published work now highlights a breakthrough. When special catalysts derived from Kemp's triacid were used, selectivities of up to 70% ee were achieved (see scheme; PET = photoinduced electron transfer). © 2006 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA.
