摘要
This study theoretically investigates the effects of electric and magnetic loss factors on the defect modes in one-dimensional defective lossy photonic crystals composed of double-negative (DNG) and doublepositive (DPS) materials with one defect layer at the center of the crystal. These effects are investigated by using the characteristic matrix method. First, the DPS defect layer is considered, and the effects of the lattice magnetic and electric loss factors on the defect mode in the transmission spectra are investigated. The results show that the lattice magnetic loss factor, in comparison with the lattice electric one, has a more salient influence on the peak height of defect modes. Then, the DNG defect layer is considered, and the lattice magnetic and electric loss factors and the magnetic and electric loss factors corresponding to the defect layer will be examined for their effects on the defect mode. The results of the study show that the effect of the magnetic loss factor of the defect layer on the peak height of the defect modes is more pronounced compared with the other loss factors of the lattice or defect layer. The results can be used to model new types of tunable transmission narrow filters at microwave. (C) 2015 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.
