Pipelines designed and installed using current technology easily meet or exceed today's corrosion control standards. However, most pipelines in the world are much older, and applying today's standards and technology requires sound engineering judgment, as well as common sense, The application of the 100 mV shift, 850 mV current "on," and 850 mV polarized "off" criteria are discussed, as well as applying in Drop (CP) coupons to mature pipelines.
