摘要
The thermal and liquid crystalline properties of ionic liquid crystalline systems were described. Ionic liquid crystals obtained by proton-transfer reaction of alkanoic acid and polymer having amino groups exhibited smectic A and columnar mesophases. The liquid crystal formation of pyridinium liquid crystals strongly depended on counterions. Ionic liquid crystals (ILCI) having mesogenic and ammonium units showed a smectic A phase. ILCI having N-methylpiperidinium unit and iodide counterion exhibited a glass transition and formed a glassy smectic orientation. Binary systems composed of an ionic liquid crystal with an ethyleneiminium unit and polyvinylalcohol formed a hydrophilic sublayer containing polyvinylalcohol in the smectic A phase. The polyvinylalcohol enhanced the thermal stability of the smectic A phase. The oriented polymer films were obtained by the bulk polymerization of ionic liquid monomers. All the ionic liquid crystals exhibited the spontaneous formation of a homeotropic alignment by physical adsorption of the ionic groups.
