摘要
Active sonar is used to detect submarines, usually working on a low frequency, but the scattering strength of sonar scatters from normal material is too small to match the scattering strength of submarines. The gas-filled cylinder scatters can form a partial interference environment, which may achieve the purpose of producing omnibearing interference to low frequency active sonar. In this article, the scattering characters of a single underwater gas-filled finite cylinder scatter have been analyzed. According to analyses of the finite cylinder, the target strength of the cylinder is compared with different materials, along with numerical examples of scattering field of a single gas-filled cylinder. It is shown that the experiments' results of backscattering compare favorably with the predicted value.
