摘要
Geological defects are always the principal issue that limits the tunnel or other underground constructions. The highly accurate prediction of geology defects can save the life of construction workers and huge money saving for the underground construction. This paper researches on how to improve the accuracy of the prediction of geology defects by using ground penetrating radar through improve the analysis of its images. Authors have done the following researches: modified Dix formula, established simple layer model, then adjusted the theoretical calculation based on the real tests. Authors have validated the new research methods by predicting the section of geology defect in Tongluoshan tunnel using ground penetrating radar system and based on geological investigation data and field test. The results shows that it is feasible to use ground penetrating radar system to forecast poor geology in tunnel construction, and the accuracy is improved by using authors new methods. By comparison between the theoretical results with excavation practice, the author methods can provide reference of geological defects detection in excavation practice.
