PCVD Graded-Index Multimode fibres for gigabit speed datacom applications, using laser sources

摘要
New applications for Graded-Index Multi Mode (GIMM) fibres in laser-based Gb/s-speed LAN systems have been developed (Gigabit Ethernet, IEEE 802.3z). GIMM fibres produced by the PCVD process, have high core profile accuracy. A new, enhanced quality class of PCVD GIMM fibres is developed - the HiCap(TM) class - which shows excellent performance in Gb/s applications. HiCap(TM) fibres offer the longest Gigabit Ethernet distances reported so far (up to 2000 m) and remove the need for expensive mode-conditioning patch cords.
